Creating effective portfolios applying modern theory of risk management.
What is it?
An investment is simply anything that has the potential to grow in value or give you an income.
Investments really boil down to just four basic 'ingredients'. The investment products you see in the market are generally just different combinations of these:
- Cash (deposits)
- Corporate bonds and gilts (UK Government bonds)
- Equities (shares)
- Property
Funds
Most investment products are available in the form of funds – currently in excess of 93,000, are available on the UK market. These pool together lots of people's money and invest in a mix of different things - equities, bonds or even cash and property.
Funds are generally looked after by a 'fund manager'. Which means this: when you invest in a fund, you are also investing in the fund manager's opinion, research and expertise (as well as the strength of the company he or she works for).
So why would you want them?
Well, they give you the potential for greater returns than a deposit based savings account.
The value of your investment is not guaranteed, it can go up or down. For truly independent advice [contact us] |
